Flew for a total of 2 days to finally reach paradise to celebrate my mom’s 60th birthday, and they broke my wheelchair in Philly. I am devastated. Thank you americanair for carelessly ruining my vacation and first time out of the country in 10 years, since I was paralyzed.

umm americanair how do you plan to fix this situation that your negligence and inconsideration caused????

My wheelchair has only been broken for 6 hours and my life has been so difficult without it. I miss it so much.

While we were boarding the airplane and they didn’t even TELL ME until 20 min before we landed in Aruba. They didn’t give me the opportunity to make an informed decision. I would have tried to get a chair in the states to bring to bring before leaving the country americanair

I knew I was going somewhere with little resources, and they knew that too, and still sent me to a foreign place without letting me know my LEGS were broken in the US!!! americanair

When airlines lose your luggage, you receive a voucher up to a couple thousand dollars to replace your items and go on a shopping spree. When airlines break your essential mobility device, they leave you with something not nearly as nice as what you came with, and stranded.

I’m now on the third day without my custom chair. My hands are torn up, my legs hips and back hurt, my shoulders hurt from pushing a wider and heavier chair harder than I normally do, and I’m stressed from sending hundreds of emails, taking phone calls which are costing me $, etc

The worst part of this experience is that I’ve been in a beautiful place really sad and stressed the entire time, I have glimmers of fun but the scooter I’m borrowing DIED and the last 2 days have been a repeat of hell again. It’s just completely unfair.
