There's a new podcast episode in your feeds. It's nerdy and fun and it would have been entirely about the Trump/Musk drama except we recorded it yesterday 🙃 Instead, it's crosstab diving with dear friends Mary Radcliffe and Lenny Bronner 🤓

Still agog at NJ turnout - pricey, crowded race but scant media attention. Dems closing in on 800k votes cast, smashing the 504k vote record from the 2017 primary (Murphy won easily but big field). Rs probably get to 460k votes, biggest primary total since 1961.

I just took a look at one of the Iowa special elections from earlier this year. The electorate was 42% Democratic, compared to only 33% Democratic in the same district among those that voted in November 2024.

broke: trying to infer election outcomes from yard signs woke: trying to infer election outcomes from google trends bespoke: trying to infer election outcomes from poll wait times

always good to remember that the persuasion vs turnout debate is entirely contrived and they are actually the same thing (as seen on tuesday and also last november)
