When someone says “thanks for the help” Midwesterners say “of course” or just “course” because it’s like of course I am going to help you that’s what we do there is no scenario where this help wouldn’t be given

This semester I am learning how hard it is to come up with questions for problem sets to really help students learn and understand what they’re learning. I’ve always appreciated my professors but now I appreciate them so much more!!

Most of our science PhD students will go on to careers that involve more than just science, and so we need to provide them experiences beyond just research. A PhD should also be about learning communication, leadership, project management, and a whole set of professional skills.

Happy #InternationalWomeninScienceDay !! I love basic research so much. The ability to discover the answers to questions on the molecular level is such a gift.

I can’t believe this slipped past me but happy late international day of women in science! I am grateful to have some amazing, strong women as mentors, professors, and friends that are all teaching me on how to be a well-rounded, ethical, driven scientist. I am beyond grateful!👩‍🔬

Excited to share that I'll be joining the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of University of Notre Dame as a Huisking Foundation Assistant Professor in January 2025! My lab will develop chemical tools to retrain our immune system in cancer, autoimmunity, and more.

During the summer, the #MorganLabatND reads a book at the interface of science and social justice. This summer, we read “Radium Girls” by Kate Moore. Absolutely amazing! Truly speechless. We had great conversations about power, allyship, and systemic injustice. #RadiumGirls

Yesterday, we celebrated Carmen 🍋 receiving the Edison Innovation Fellowship sponsored by the IDEA Center Notre Dame! For the next year, Carmen will be learning about IP, entrepreneurship, and commercialization. Congratulations!! 🍾🎉 #MorganLabatND

The #MorganLabatND has been celebrating the graduation of our third undergraduate, Matt Barnes. Matt worked with Carmen (Carmen 🍋) and developed a novel code to predict covalent reactivity. This Fall, Matt will be joining University of Louisville to earn his MD/PhD! 🎉🍾🥳

EWOC 2025 was a fantastic conference! I highly recommend others to participate in the future - I’m already excited about next year’s meeting! Thank you to all the organizers and volunteers!!
