Aortic dissection-w this dx, time to hustle!! Drop HR+BP but make sure you do it in the right order or you could accelerate EXPANSION of the dissection! Goal: ⬇️ 1-HR & 2-BP as low as poss while still maint perfusion to vital organs #pharmacyeducationboard #twitterx #emergency

#Tramadol, a game of analgesic roulette, will it work or won’t it? Will your patient obtain analgesic effects or will they have a seizure, respiratory depression, or various other side effects...🤷🏼‍♀️that’s why it’s been nicknamed #Tramadont! Its variable effects are (1/3)

Despite more association with survival when fludro is added, important to consider that a third of septic shock patients have undetectable fludro levels. This is more likely to happen in these “positive” trials where pressor requirements were the highest journals.lww.com/ccmjournal/Cit…

Junior: “Why do patients drop their BP when we start them on CPAP?” Me: “because the CPAP steals pressure from the BP” Junior: “Oh. Because I figured is was due to increased thoracic pressure leading to reduced cardiac preload-“ Me: “BECAUSE PEEP STEALS PRESSURE FROM THE BP”

Today, a new patient had just arrived to the MICU and no pharmacist had signed in yet so the provider had no idea which pharm to call. They ordered pip/tazo on a patient who was already on ertapenem in order to summon a pharmacist. Well played, sir.
