“Oh? Has zhe petit mèchant found something else to her liking? Or perhaps it is someone.” She set her hand upon her face, smirking at the younger villain. “It is much harder to leave zhe game than you think, petit.”

Laura chuckled softly. “Vell, you keep thinking zhat, petit mèchant.” The woman recalled a time when her good personality was dominant. “Something vill pull you back. It is a matter of time.”

“Ah jeune amour,” she bat her eyes teasingly. “Believe it or not, I once felt the same way.”

“Oh mon petit, he did not love Madame Rouge. He loved Laura de Mille.” Her recollection seemed sincere, there was no lie in her words.

“Oui, he was zhe leader of Zhe Doom Patrol. Zhe Brain’s nemeses. Of course, after zhe experimentation which gave me my elasticity powers, Laura de Mille's personality remnants no longer existed and love turned to anguish.”

“No, in fact, I was apart of zhe Doom Patrol for a little while. In truth, it was supposed to be a rouse, until it was not.”

“You have an opportunity, mon petit. I von’t stand in your vay. But others vill.” She warned. “I remember zhe feeling of being in love. Zhe Brain discovered this and used further experimentation to permanently seal Laura de Mille away. Once that happened, he could not love me.”

Laura smiled, perhaps there was a hint of good in her somewhere. Who would’ve thought, after everything, Madame Rouge has a heart. “You are zhe master of your own fate, mon petit hèros. Make not my same mistake.” Rouge then stretched her arm and left Jinx alone.

Jinx will definitely be remembering this. Perhaps jinx judged the woman too harshly. She’ll keep an eye out for those who might try to pull her away from the light. Perhaps one day, madame rouge can find the light again as well.
