Weekdays: kid dropoffs and pick ups, work, and meetings Weekends: chores and cooking It's all about balance. I love this stage of mom life.

We did it! We've come to the part of the year where I have 17 balls in the air, but I CAN juggle them all! And nothing will fall! But if it does, no one will notice cuz I'm that good.

A full couple weeks of the arts... Solo/ensemble contest, District orchestra festival, art/music at the library and a studio, honors orchestra, Newsies Jr...our kids have access to all this. But test scores say our schools are terrible. Maybe the tests don't tell the whole story.

100 years ago a group of people started a social organization to protect their families and friends and communities from the ills of immorality and crime. Any guesses what that organization became? Thanks for the inspiration for my own deep dive Sharon McMahon

Crowd sourcing books for some 13 years olds for the summer between 7th and 8th grade. We are looking for some diversity in books - diverse/LGBTQIA authors & characters, social justice issues, often challenged or banned books. What you got?? #readingkids #idomathnotELA

Wokeness isn’t killing kids in school. Books aren’t killing kids in school. Lessons about slavery & racism aren’t killing kids in school. Learning about gay & queer people isn’t killing kids in school. Drag Queen Story Hours aren’t killing kids in school. Guns are!

Things that did _not_ kill kids today: - a renaissance sculpture - a film about Ruby Bridges - drag queen story time - the word ‘tampon’ - critical race theory - woke banks - saying that Rosa Parks was Black - gender-affirming care - ‘The Bluest Eye’ What did: -an AR-f––ing-15

30 infants die and we recall 4.7 mil Rock ‘n Play Sleepers. 2 toddlers die and we recall 3.2 mil Calico Critters toys. 2 infants die and we recall so much formula that the US goes into shortage. Last year, over 6,000 children were injured by gun violence. Nothing. Nada.

Thank you Israellee 🇮🇱 this week's Abbott Elementary was SO relatable and authentic! I have been Janine, and I've been Barbara. Schementi's pep talk to Gregory...GOLD! Every teacher has been through all of this, day after day, year after year.

Took 3 years, but my number came up. Thankfully I have a student T who could take over and keep everything moving forward in class. Even more thankful, the fam has avoided it this round! I don't wish the aches and fevers on anyone. Now to kick the congestion. Back at it Monday!

Every year as a teacher and a org president I am thrilled to see HS kids graduate full of amazing promise and positivity and drive. I cannot wait until those "kids" (my first students are in their 30s now) run the world! Teenagers are amazing people!

Summer school is another level of teaching for me this year. For about $100/day, I am working to get approximately 45 students (originally 60, but now in sections of 28 and 17 most days) through Alg 1 for credit recovery. That's less than $2.50/kid/day. For 22 days.

Spring break, you say? Guess I'll be grading all the make up work, emailing everyone about various PTA initiatives, and catching up on spring around here. I'll also spend no time yet somehow still torture local trolls who let me live in their heads rent free for no reason. Cheers!
