I 'fell' into OT after an injury meant that my chosen career in ballet was no longer possible. Shadowing an OT in preparation for the course, I was struck by her passionate advocacy for those she worked with. 22 years on, I still see this every day. #ChooseOT Somerset Council
Lin, one of our locum OTs, commenced her studies at age 48. When asked why she loves OT, she said: 'I love the work, meeting and helping people … and having a career in later life that is satisfying and rewarding.' #ChooseOT #OTweek2020 Somerset Council rcot paulette baker
Lynsey, an aspiring OT on our internal development programme, said about OT: 'I love that it helps the individual to see the potential they can have … I love that this profession uses a person-centred approach, focusing on the individual’s strengths.' #ChooseOT Somerset Council
It’s day 2 of #RCOT2021! We’re starting another packed day at Annual Conference looking at social justice and health equity with Sir Michael Marmot. See you at 8.30am
Reality check today at #RCOT2021 by Prof Sir Michael Marmot about the factors contributing to health inequity in the UK. Highlighted the need to really examine whole-system service provision and focus it where it is needed most. Somerset Council OccupationalTherapySomerset
Thanks @RCOT_Lauren for the shout-out during your #RCOT2021 session on how rehab interventions can address health inequalities. Loved the use of #smallchangebigimpact stories to illustrate the work OTs do in this area ❤️ Somerset Council OccupationalTherapySomerset
