Such a beautifully done documentary - brought me to tears. If you missed it in theaters, you can catch it on PBS! instagram.com/p/BtjESNjnyS9/…

A principal recently told me that some parents don't want their kids "just reading" while at school. He asked what research he could share to show those parents that "just reading" has ACADEMIC benefits. Here it the chart I shared. #DisruptingThinking

Has anyone else noticed the repeated assumption that poor children are the ones that behave badly in schools? Have we ever thought that it might be our own bias and expectations which mean that we see behaviour differently depending on who is in front of us?

Several good points here, including, "Keep the issues facing people of color current. Racism is not a problem of the past, solved by the Civil Rights era, but a continuing problem today. " triciaebarvia.org/2019/07/18/why…

Thank you #mnitem for a fantastic conference again this year! Especially valuable this year were all the resources, connections, and speakers on equity. So much to bring back to my colleagues and students! JL D Ohlgren

#OutdoorClassroomDay is about more than one special day outdoors. With only 3 days to go, here is a reminder of our 3 longer-term goals. 1 #Outdoorlearning part of every school day. 2 A consistent minimum target for recess/playtime. 3 Schools to advocate for more time #outdoors.

Did you know ECCS has a partnership with the Rapids Lake Environmental Center in Carver? While the center is closed this year, the staff from Rapids Lake are coming to our elementary schools on a rotating basis to bring hands-on “fieldwork” experiences for all learners.
