Last thought before attempting to go to bed: if Americans are willing to reelect Trump after everything he’s said in the past three months, there’s nothing Harris could’ve done.

I know this isn't like, a popular leftist analysis, but at what point do we acknowledge that her simply being a woman might be the reason she loses

Yeah, leftists who are busy gloating don’t seem to realise how over it is for them and their preferred policies now. Dems did a lot of what they wanted and got an election defeat and zero thanks for their trouble.

If Harris loses, there will be a lot of recriminations directed at her, but it's hard to point to any glaring mistakes that she made. She ran an excellent campaign.

The flip side is that Trump ran an awful campaign. He gave a terrible RNC speech, his VP was deeply unpopular, he lost the debate, he had no ground game to speak of, he offended key demographic groups ... and none of it mattered.

This exit poll data is wild: White men, white women, Black men, Black women, Latina women ALL tracking their 2020 numbers very closely. Latino men, 2020: Biden 59%, Trump 36% Latino men, 2024: Harris 45%, Trump 53% A HUGE shift from D+23 to R+8

It’s always tempting to say, ‘the Dems messed up’ and, in the long run, that was probably true. But what was Trump’s big plan here? He was very open about the horrible things he was gonna do. He was his honest, deranged, incoherent self all along and people still voted for him.

I genuinely can’t get my head around voting Republican because economy. Their economy is about to boom because of Biden and Trump is going to take all credit for it while at the same time tank it.

Trump’s planned tariffs will halve UK growth and make British people poorer. Oh and if you are coming into my mentions trying to make the case for this deluded idiot please come armed with something better than crying emojis and a racist feed Ta theguardian.com/us-news/2024/n…

The age of those that voted Trump is quite shocking also. While most 18-24yos voted Harris, Trump still attracted 44%. For context, only 5% of the same bracket voted Tory in the UK GE. The future looks bleak.

It's hard to overstate how important Gary Lineker has been to Match of the Day, televised football and BBC Sport. He's synonymous with all three. As for his opinions, all of them encourage discussion in a world that tries to shut it down. There's plenty there to be thankful for.

Trump’s vote share is now at 49.9% with some votes still being counted. Looks like his margin over Harris will be around 1.5%- the third smallest winning margin since 1888. Trump’s win was solid in the popular vote and electoral college. But it was not a landslide and it was not
