Added to my map of pre-First World War council housing - Ripley and Merrow Buildings, Rushworth Street, Southwark. Designed by Arthur Philips of the London County Council. Charles Booth said they 'were not good buildings because they have no back yard'.

I’m late to the party of course, but in this week of World Book Day, two gems have arrived which I see everyone is rightly getting excited about:

1/ 🧵to mark #IWD2024 , a short tribute to some female architects of 1960s public housing. First up, Kate Macintosh and the incomparable Dawson's Heights Estate she designed for Southwark Borough Council aged just 28 in 1966.
