Hiroshi Teshigahara’s 1964 Woman in the Dunes is perfect hot weather horror— a sandy, sweaty, psychedelic psychological thriller that should be way more famous than it is

hot weather tip: you can eat frozen mango straight out of the bag. The texture is soft and not icy. It’s like sorbet. You can eat a LOT of it before you have a problem. This recently-acquired information has changed my life

I think the Amish will have many things to teach us in the 21st century and beyond and I think new “Amish-adjacent” categories will spring up as models of relating to and eschewing certain technologies

"I guess when you're young, you just believe there'll be many people whom you'll connect with. Later in life, you realize it only happens a few times." The goal with any first date is to try to see if you can go Before Sunrise mode; and if you can, don't be stupid!

retweeting this because I just know this has become part of my personal canon that I will think of often. This screen recording is a piece of postmodern art

If you do *actual-nothing* for long enough without allowing for either self-coercion or distractions (scrolling, etc) You will either : Literally be meditating —> good for you Or: Get bored and do something that you *actually want to do*

“living up to your potential” is just a matter of living one’s individual day well, one after the other. I think focusing on making this day good is most of the ballgame. Zooming out to ask questions about whether you’re “on track” is dizzying and often counterproductive

Addison Rae album is about the ecstatic experience of being a beautiful young woman. Powerful distillation of this, almost an auditory VR experience. Producers were cooking—the texture of the tracks, the way the vocals are layered, the whole thing sounds like glitter

the first step toward learning something is to believe that it actually is learnable. The first step toward knowing something is to believe that it is knowable. Sounds silly but I am surprised how often I subtly do not believe it

there are so many little pleasures to be had from restaurant work and access to a walk-in freezer or refrigerator is definitely among them another thing I like is that service every night ramps up and ramps down in an arc that becomes familiar to your nervous system
