A1: I feel that a poem can bring a unique expression of emotion and show an individuals personality and perspective. It is a vehicle that helps other people to relate to an experience that you have had through words. #TeachLivingPoets

A2: The image that stood out to me the most was the relation of poetry to water that you can swim in lines 14-16. Swimming is a big part of my life, and this image helps me relate to the poem more. #TeachLivingPoets

A3: "You" might be used to refer to a reader who is just finding poetry, or even a reader who has been reading or writing poetry for a long time. It invites the reader to stop for a moment and examine what poetry really is and does. #TeachLivingPoets

A4: I saw juxtaposition in lines 15-16. The speaker talks about "alarming waters", but then says "you can bathe" and "play" in the water. This image confused me, but seems to describe how initially poetry can seem overwhelming but is really very beautiful. #TeachLivingMoments

A5: The mall metaphor gave me a new idea about experiencing poetry. At first glance, poetry may seem like something you can just consume and enjoy, but it is often much deeper than that initial glance, and a poem can pull out deep feelings and realizations. #TeachLivingPoets

A6: I noticed a shift in the middle of line 12. The poem moves from talking about negative effects of poetry "sour", ""thirsty", "cold", and uses the positive imagery of a poem being a place you can "play" or "bathe" in the waters. #TeachLivingPoets

A7: The poem is one long stanza, a run-on sentence. This adds to the free flow of thought feel, as if the speaker is speaking their mind. There are also a lot of enjambment, which encourages the reader to pause and emphasize certain points. #TeachLivingPoets

A8: I think that "a life without boundaries" is a way for the speaker to freely share their thoughts or feelings. For me, poetry is a way to explore my own feelings in a visible way. In this way, poetry is platform that helps many people relate to each other. #TeachLivingPoets

A9: To me, the central message of the poem seems to be that while poetry can be seem intimidating at first, it really has hidden depths and is an important way for people to share their unique perspectives. #TeachLivingPoets

A10: I feel that this poem does "bring" what the speaker says poetry can bring. This poem allows the speaker to share their opinion on poetry and the way it makes them feel, while drawing their reader in, helping the reader to relate to poetry. #TeachLivingPoets
