A lot of people I know are following UXmatters. As an Asian Brazilian and immigrant, I'd like to ask you to consider stop following racist, xenophobe people like them.

This morning I discovered a publication (UXmatters) was using my name without my authorization to describe me as a founding advisor. I have never advised that publication. Furthermore I’ve asked them to cease publication so no further misrepresentation the field of UX occurs.

The reason we start communities like Latinxs who Design podcast latinxswhodesign BlacksWhoDesign Women Who Design BIPOC designers @LGBTQPlusDesign is because diversity in UX matters. Design has to be inclusive to matter and to serve the greater good. Our industry deserves more unique voices

whatever term you prefer — #Latinx, Latina, Hispanic or Latino — this is about recognition & being counted. In choosing what term to use, ask yourself: Who is included and who is excluded? what do we hope to accomplish when we bring forth a word and speak its power?

White privilege, colorism, internalized racism is deep in the Hispanic experience. We must learn to love our roots, history, colors and languages. Passing is not privilege. Passing is erasure. I am #Latinx. I’m proud. Latinas are beautiful and valuable.

Every time I see Americans discussing who’s latino, I lose a year of my life Please understand: the US is the only place that sees latino as a racial umbrella In actual Latin American soil we don’t consider it a race. It’s a geographical marker of where you were born and raised
