ASAP #Speciesoftheweek is the Javan Blue-banded Kingfisher (Alcedo euryzona). Endemic to Java, Indonesia, it inhabits moist lowland and mangrove forests. Males are characterized by a shiny broad blue-green band across a white chest and females have an orange belly and a red base.
