I think it was a Brian Phillips piece about how the beauty of soccer is when people suddenly create moments of sublime order in the chaos of a game played only with our least coordinated limbs, and that's a perfect example of it

Grace Robertson 🏳️‍⚧️ Don’t know if they’ve mentioned it: The Danish coach was head coach at a match where a player was hit by lightning 15 years ago. Survived, but lost a leg. Many of the Danish players knew him and of this. That’s why the team was so expressive in stopping the match.

a note for folks who like soccer analytics and maybe tried Double Pivot Podcast back in the day but didn't stick with it we've learned a lot about audio production in the years doing the podcast -- it sounds a lot better now!

(#3)Pitt Men's Soccer have earned three second half corners, but remain scoreless. Disciplined out of possession shape from Penn Men's Soccer, holding a 1-0 lead with 25 minutes to play.

Sunday night shocker. Penn Men's Soccer upset (#3) Pitt Men's Soccer. 1-0 final to the home side at Rhodes field. Encouraging start to the campaign for Coach Gil, and the 2024 Ivy League preseason poll favourites.

The football discourse on here would be immeasurably better if a bunch of people recognised that what they don't like about modern football has nothing to do with positional ideas and everything to do with a shift towards risk aversion.

It took KSA buying Newcastle to turn me into a proper football guy about kits. But the idea that Newcastle wearing green is something we’re all just supposed to politely pretend isn’t ridiculous drives me bonkers.

It just feels like a lot of people who were very convinced by Erin ten Hag’s tactics as he came into United are now very convinced by Ruben Amorim’s tactics as he comes into United, without really considering what went wrong with Ten Hag.

Want Opta to calculate how much water, in millilitres, Pep Guardiola has drunk while Juanma Lillo gives him some weary post-goal analysis, since 2020

If Manchester United do end up buying him for £80m, they will have spent £210m on three attackers that outperformed their xG last season by a combined 16.5 goals. Zero red flags, no notes, would buy again.

The biggest sporting event in the world is happening in our backyard. But most New Yorkers will be priced out of watching it live. Sign our petition calling on FIFA World Cup to put game over greed.
