Sierra Leone officially commences its tenure at the UN Security Council today 2nd January 2024 as a Non-Permanent Member. It's a two-year tenure that promises to be fulfilling as the experienced West African nation sets out to significantly contribute to global peace & security.

It’s with great honor that I assume a new role in my profession as Secretary of the General Legal Council of Sierra Leone. The Council is a statutory body independent of government that is mandated for the admission, enrollment, practice, and discipline of legal practitioners.

20yrs ago, d HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION OF SIERRA LEONE Act was enacted establishing the Commission.Since then the human rights domain has evolved. Today, I had the opportunity 2 lead discussions on d revised Act in the presence of the leadership of the Office of the Attorney-General & Minister of Justice.

Today, 21st June 2024, I had the privilege in my capacity as Secretary of the General Legal Council to admonish & certify about 215 pupil barristers who subscribed to the oath and signed the Roll of Court of Legal Practitioners to become full-fledged lawyers.

On 17&18th June 2024 the HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION OF SIERRA LEONE in collaboration with the @HumanRightsDK enhanced the capacity of 56 staff & specific CSOs on human rights & climate change. I facilitated the sessions on legal framework & impacts of CC on HRs.Thanks to Maria Ploug Petersen

It is very disappointing to see police officers trying to prevent aggrieved members of the SLBA from meeting & discussing their grievances without an order of the court. I strongly condemn such act of the police & call on them to desist forthwith.

Yesterday,22/8/24, in my capacity as Secretary of the General Legal Council of SL, I superintended over the signing of the Temporary Register for 18 Pupil Barristers from the Law Officers’ Department marking the official commencement of their Pupillage. Congratulations guys!

The Chairman and Sec. Gen. of 🇸🇱’s General Legal Council, Sulaiman Banja Tejan-Sie Esq. and Victor Lansana Esq., met with SRA executives, including CEO Paul Philip, in London today. The SRA regulates solicitors and law firms in England and Wales to uphold professional standards.

Today, the Chair of 🇸🇱’s General Legal Council, Mr. Sulaiman Banja Tejan-Sie, engaged in team discussions with the Chair of the Bar Council of England & Wales, Mr. Sam Townsend KC. The talks centred on legal & policy matters, focusing on exploring ideas & exchanging experiences.

Today, 24|01|25, the General Legal Council received about 300 freshmen & women as Pupil Barristers as they signed the Temporary Register making way for the commencement of their mandatory Pupillage.Nobility & Justice were the key takeaways from us, the Chair & I, the Sec.

It was a great honor today 12/6/25 to be appointed Notary Public and to subscribe to the oath subsequently. Remain indebted to God and thankful to the Hon Chief Justice, Komba Kamanda, friends & family. Hardwork,humility&credibility remain the operative words.#TheJourneyContinues
