Thank you to Joan Walsh for calling out the double standards in acceptable behavior for men and women. Dr. Ford was restrained and polite. Brett Kavanaugh was insulting and partisan. Lindsey Graham got treated differently than Kamala Harris. And Rachel Mitchell was sidelined.

The United States Senate is the upper chamber of a co-equal branch of government that was created and empowered by Article 1 of the US Constitution. Trump referred to it yesterday as a weapon, controlled by him, to be used to investigate his political opponents. Dangerous .

To all our veterans and your families: thank you. There's no tribute that can truly match the magnitude of your service and sacrifice. But all of us can do our best to live up to the American values of service, responsibility, generosity, and citizenship that you helped defend.

When our children ask us what we did when innocents were massacred, the president fomented racism, and immigrants were caged and cast as sub-human, what will we tell them? Each of us owns our individual response. And our collective response answers who we are as a country.

Remember the Bush years when there was a giant news story about one woman on life support possibly being taken off per her own wishes? And now those same people are straight faced asking us to sacrifice a few relatives for the sake of being able to eat at Applebee's? Good times.
