Excited to share that our cuttlefish brain atlas is now out in Current Biology! Check out our website Cuttlebase.org and play around with the brain of this crazy camouflaging cephalopod. It was an amazing team effort 🐙✨ authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S09…

how do Spanish speakers know when to put a question mark at the beginning of a sentence? how do they know the sentence is gonna end in a question?

We call this an expletive or "dummy" pronoun, because it actually doesn't refer to anything! It's just there because English requires an overt subject, you can't just say "raining" (although you can in other languages!)

I tried explaining how a triangle can have 90 degree angles if it's drawn on a sphere in class this week. According to my students, this is cursed knowledge

The worst part of this is that students often recognize the beauty and are enamored by it, but the incentives of the school system are such that they are required to care if it's on the exam. Beauty won't pay back the student loans

Interesting to see conservatives vehemently denying what I have seen many times with my own eyes growing up - rural whites killing and eating wild geese without a license. Seems conservative culture has been fully captured by suburban anxieties at this point

I showed a cuttlefish his own reflection today using a mirror. After staring at himself for 16 mins, he ejaculated. I scooped up the cluster of spermatophores, and genotyped him. I love my job(?) 👩🏻‍🔬
