Forget about shrimp. If you had to choose between infinite humans experiencing fleeting, barely perceptible pain or one human experiencing unbearable torture for their entire (finite) life, which would you choose?

This upstanding fellow blocked me, but I assume his point here is about the fact that the primary point of Orson Welles' speech hinges on a fact that turns out to be false and that we should not base our world view on fiction

Art must only ever endorse my values. Do not ever under any circumstance make art with values that do not perfectly align with mine

Finally watching Strange New Worlds, and I gotta say, it's nice finally having a modern Trek series as good as the one Seth MacFarlane made as a joke

Delirious, dream-induced thoughts while halfway between sleep and waking: Hyperspace in Star Wars is Hell, they're traveling through the underworld, avoiding the shadows of the real world. Nightcrawler teleports through brimstone. This is in our collective unconscious

There's this belief that the primary function of a college degree is wealth signaling. But this doesn't make any sense to me, because: (1) anybody can get federally guaranteed student loans; (2) the zip code of your high school has got to be a much more direct signal of wealth
