Hen harriers UPDATE! We have more data from our GPS tagged hen harrier chicks Aurora and Charlie thanks to RSPB Birders and Hen Harrier Action. Charlie is spreading his wings even further and enjoying extending his travels to Wales while Aurora is staying north of Preston.

We have been busy installing a few wetland scrapes to increase the amount of standing water for wildlife across the Valley as part of woodland restoration and we’re thrilled that that they have already been visited by new resident frogs. Build it and they will come! 🐸🦎

We have been starting to work with southernuplandspartnership and the RSPB Scotland as part of the development phase of a bid to Former NatureScot account Nature Recovery Fund. This project is all about restoring habitats at a landscape scale with a particular focus on the recovery of black grouse.

We are delighted to share that the Langholm Initiative is now an accredited Living Wage Employer. This means that every member of staff over the age of 18 working for Langholm Initiative, including the Tarras Valley Nature Reserve, will earn a minimum of the real Living Wage.

We had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a study trip to North Harris Trust and the Galson Estate Trust along with other community landowners from across Scotland last week. A huge thanks to Community Land Scotland for organising such a valuable knowledge exchange.
