The lessons of Grenfell still have not been learned. The fragmentation of the fire service poses a threat to our ability to set common practice and high standards. We need the Government to change that and take more responsibility for fire and rescue provision.

Today’s Grenfell Inquiry report highlights the devastating impacts of decades of austerity and deregulation. We need real action to ensure this never happens again. And we need justice for the 72 people killed. Those responsible must be held to account.
