Deporting people who have served their sentences is discriminatory double punishment. A case like this, affecting someone who has lived here their entire life, is a particularly stark injustice - but the whole practice needs to stop.

Happy Christmas to everyone other than the people who think this kind of brain dead barbarity constitutes clever politics.

And chose to put it out on Christmas fucking Day.

Practical resistance! This is a model trade unionists can replicate in branches across the country.

Let's make our unions hubs for all workers to organise to protect each other and our communities, and to halt the cooption of public service workers into border enforcement.

Clamping down on immigration; restricting the right to strike; ratcheting up nationalist rhetoric; pursuing “culture war” discourse against LGBT+ people and political dissidents…

… the UK government has an authoritarian project.

A horrific loss of life. There were many warnings that locking up migrants in floating prisons would lead to this.

We can stop this barbarism. If workers in Bibby Line and throughout the broader infrastructure withdrew their labour, they could bring it all to a grinding halt.

Sickening to read this alongside reports that someone has died by suicide on the floating prison that is the Bibby Stockholm

Beyond any constitutional heat, at the heart of the Rwanda Bill is the entrenchment of a deeply hostile and deadly environment for people seeking safety

Tonight’s Rwanda Bill vote is the latest in a string of dark turns for migrants’ rights in the UK.

In our workplaces, our communities, and the political arena, the labour movement can defeat the anti-migrant agenda, but only if we organise and fight.

Disappointing, but not surprising, to see Starmer continuing to say that the Government has ‘lost control of the borders’.

Labour should oppose the Tories by fighting for migrants’ rights, not by suggesting that the borders aren’t restrictive enough!

Today, hundreds of Amazon staff have gone on strike as people take advantage of Black Friday, one of the year's busiest shopping days.

Sending solidarity to everyone, including Amazon workers who are migrants. ✊🏾

I spoke to LBC earlier about the high net immigration figures

The govt is dishonest about ending reliance of sectors like care & farming on migrant labour - we have issued tens of thousands of restrictive visas under a system that drives systemic risk of exploitation & slavery.

And for the bosses, tightening borders was never about preventing immigration per se: it was about making migrant workers’ immigration status more precarious, thereby making it easier to exploit them.

Migrants rights are workers’ rights and border controls are class warfare.
