Myth: A prettier website automatically converts better Reality: I've seen beautiful $10k redesigns tank conversion rates by 20% Meanwhile, "ugly" stores with clear value props and simple checkout flows are crushing it Your opinions about design don't pay the bills. Customer

Most people ask "how much traffic do I need to A/B test?" Wrong question. You need ~200+ orders/month minimum for reliable results. A store with 10K visitors but 50 orders can't detect meaningful differences. A store with 2K visitors but 300 orders can test effectively.

"Free shipping always converts better than paid shipping" ❌ WRONG I've seen stores LOSE 15% conversions by switching to "free" shipping. Why? Customers aren't stupid. When you hide shipping costs in product prices, they notice. Sometimes "$29 + $5 shipping" converts better

Support ticket yesterday: "Why did my test fail?" Looked at their setup - they were testing hero image color variations Their real problem? Product page had zero trust signals and shipping info was buried in FAQ This happens constantly Merchants avoid testing the scary stuff

The stores doing $500K+/month aren't smarter than you They just stopped treating optimization like a mystery They have a testing calendar. Blocked time. Systematic approach. 4-6 tests monthly, every month, no exceptions Not random. Prioritized by potential impact: → Biggest

Why do merchants test homepage hero images but avoid testing pricing? Because one feels like design (safe, subjective, no wrong answer) The other feels like business strategy (risky, measurable, accountable) It's not about knowing what to test It's about emotional safety
