Schools are requiring parents to sign a Student Face Covering Opt-Out Form for their children as mask mandates in MDCPS are being lifted, or are in the process of being lifted, following signs of low rates in Covid-19 cases. #MLECMaskOptional

Since the start of school, I've seen several students in my grade quarantined and attending class via Zoom for weeks at a time. Personally, I believe it is a little early to make masks optional. At the same time, I believe students should have a choice. #MLECMaskOptional

As a vaccinated student who gets tired of wearing a mask, it's nice to be able to take it off for a second without feeling like I'll be crucified, but I still keep it on for my own safety. Remember that even vaccinated people can contract COVID-19! #MLECMaskOptional

As it's been established, free speech doesn't mean freedom of consequences. Many derogatory terms carry a heavy past with them that we should acknowledge and educate on as a society rather than shove under the rug and normalize. #derogatorytermstalk

I believe the term MotherF***er also applies here. Take note of how common "I slept with your mom" jokes are. Even when we are not involved, it appears that women are always the target of these insults. #DerogatoryTermsTalk

Ofc, these are considered free speech, and people are free to use them. However, I agree with you, especially when you consider how there are almost no curse words/insults involving fathers, almost as if... misogyny is rooted in these words. 🤔 #DerogatoryTermsTalk

Kymani K. Hughes The fact that you’ve had to get to the point of being “numb” to it what makes the problem surrounding the use of derogatory terms even more prevalent.
