In my very unscientific experience, whenever a #doctor calls to say they need to be seen, they are a walking train wreck. If they say they have #psoriasis, then most of their body is involved. When they have a "mole that doesn't look too bad," it's a #melanoma. #MedTwitter

I requested that Alberta Health Services stock a $36 injectable medication in my outpatient clinic for patients experiencing a painful, refractory #vulvar condition Request = denied Patients will need to purchase & bring it to a second appt. This will cost more $ in repeat visit fees. /1

Charter schools and private schools aren’t required to admit every child. They aren’t required to have a SpEd program or make accommodations. Public schools are required to accept every child and meet their needs…defunding public schools threatens the most vulnerable kids.

I am not well. My healthcare colleagues are not well. Not only is our system collapsing, but so are the humans who are trying to hold it up.

We're looking for the most meaningful Canadian paramedicine papers/studies of the year. Which original research published by a Canadian paramedic makes the most significant contribution and represents high-quality research (must have been published in 2021/22)? What do you think?

1/14 The hallway SOBs Twas a busy evening in the ED. I was coming out of the ressusc bay and I see 3 patients with the CC of "shortness of breath" all placed in hallway beds. X-rays were ordered already but X-ray is backed up. A resident has already seen 2 of the patients.

In this simple 🧡: I will do my best to inflict damage on a standard 0.032" central line wire by using the #11 scalpel blade that comes with the kit. There is one minor bit of clinical relevance to this, and it is somewhat counterintuitive... (1/)

We have pharmacists doing doctors’ work and doctors doing pharmacists’ work. Where is the efficiency in that? Check out this week’s blog post written by MPP student Anita McDonald! Her op-ed was also featured in the Edmonton Journal. School of Public Policy yycpolicy.org/blog/2023/3/28…
