Loved this The New York Times interactive that basically teaches you how to have a good conversation AND walks you through the learning & psych principles behind each move! Because who can't use more research-driven practice on how to have better conversations? nytimes.com/interactive/20…
Proud to be advised by Liz Gerber, kicking off Social Computing Camp with this vision: HMW design systems collectively empowering us to be more humane, & not just to humans? What if we could design systems to give voice to melting glaciers, polar bears, urging us to take action?
Today, Mayor Daniel Biss kindly complimented—on live TV!—my ability to simultaneously deliberate, feedback & report out on community needs. As if it weren't what I spend all my waking hrs researching how social computing can solve 😉 Love doing the good work of comm engagement💙
Giant thank you to Rep. Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz Governor JB Pritzker & Ram Villivalam for this big win for our Asian American community amidst this year of adversity. Onwards, indeed. chicagotribune.com/politics/ct-il…
Had the *best* time sharing our work designing systems & learning enviros for civic organizing w/ Hahrie Han 한 하 리 & P3 Lab today. Nothing more important in this work than building meaningful connections with the very scholars who laid the foundation for yours. Thank you for having us!
Feel like I'm only really understanding how my friends felt about Crazy Rich Asians when I discover heroines like Mayor Michelle Wu 吳弭, Ai-jen Poo & Ailsa Chang are Taiwanese American. Wordlessly grateful for the example these women set representing us at the top of public service fields.
Eager to bring the rich learnings from my doctoral work to advance research on civic empowerment & keep working w/ community leaders, organizers, educators, and YOU to co-design more just, sustainable, equitable democratic futures. Thanks^100 Northwestern SESP, Center for HCI & Design + City of Evanston!
