A paper that I started working on in my MA (along with Dr. Leigh Harkins Kristina Shatokhina and Danielle Loney) has finally been published! We looked at the validity and reliability of a self-report measure of the Good Lives Model goods tandfonline.com/doi/metrics/10…

The Measure of Life Priorities was developed to ascertain a person’s primary and secondary human goods, as denoted in the Good Lives Model (GLM). Administering a measure in this format will allow for more accessible, frequent, and streamlined administration in research.

In this cross-sectional study the MLP was validated against a number of GLM relevant constructs, and the test-retest reliability of the measure was evaluated after at least 1 month.

The MLP had acceptable reliability for both Importance (α= .694) and Achievement (α= .733) of the goods. Test-retest reliability results were mixed with most items demonstrating moderate reliability (ICCs from .52 to .74)

There was an overall trend demonstrating that items focused on Importance appeared more reliable than items focused on Achievement, as might be expected given that one’s achievement of goods is likely more dynamic.

The implications of validating this measure include broadening the settings in which the GLM can be studied and providing a tool for use in research seeking to further examine the theoretical underpinnings, and application of the GLM.
