Honoured to speak at the Barnahus conference in #Montenegro. Child-centered justice systems such as Barnahus can make a world of difference for child survivors and witnesses of violence. An excellent partnership with Government of Montenegro Council of Europe EU in Montenegro 🇪🇺 that convened 26 countries.

#Bulgaria: We are deeply concerned by the signing of an amendment prohibiting discussion of sexual orientation & gender identity in schools. This legislative change will only deepen human rights violations against LGBT people & entrench bullying & harassment in schools.

UNICEF, the Ministry of Justice, and the National Bureau for Legal Aid signed an agreement to improve legal aid for children at risk and in conflict with the law. Through specialized trainings and initiatives, we aim to provide protection and support for vulnerable children.

In the last 5 years, over 13 000 unaccompanied children have sought protection in Bulgaria, but only 150 have been placed in social services. UNICEF is working to increase opportunities for the alternative care children need. More here 👉 bit.ly/3A8VESc

The Minister of Interior, Daniel Mitov, and UNICEF’s representative, Christina de Bruin, signed a 2025–2027 work plan under the Memorandum for Cooperation. Key goals: prevent #violence, strengthen #childprotection, support #refugee children, train #professionals & raise awareness.
