In my experience, “children are too young to learn about (insert topic)” is almost always about adults’ comfort rather than children’s, and by the time children are “old enough”, they’ve already learned misinformation that needs to be unlearned.

My new fav thing? Loading up on books from LondonPublicLibrary to improve my classroom's library. Love seeing Ss explore texts they might not usually select related to #WomensHistoryMonth and #Ramadan 🥳

Loved learning more about Ramadan this week at assembly! Students in my class especially enjoyed the opportunity to ask and answer questions of each other in class afterwards, learning first-hand from one another 🥰

Class bookshelf is re-stocked with poetry texts in anticipation for the #StanzaExtravaganza with Danielle Cadieux for #PoetryMonth. My students (and I) are so excited to flex our poetry-writing skills! 💪🏼

Gorgeous day for what I have dubbed "Poetry with a Pal" 🤣 Students took turns reading poems from my LondonPublicLibrary haul and shared what spoke to them from their favorites!

We had some extra guests at the grade 5 art club yesterday for #BearWitnessDay 🥰

My kids have been OBSESSED with our poetry bracket, and these two asked to perform one of the poems that they'd turned into an original song! 🥺🤯 And not to be outdone, another group defended the other poem otd by rapping it for the class! So creative! We love poetry!

The best part of starting journaling in our forest of learning? Every single one of these students was convinced they had found the best spot to journal ☺👌🏼

This has been my favourite "book haul" this year. I replaced all the L.P.L. books with Fairy Tales created by our very own in-class authors! Ss were so proud to show off their work to one another 🤗
