I am SO excited to read my kindergarten students their letter from Santa tomorrow! Thanks Duquesne Alumni for doing such a creative & an awesome thing for kids! I know this project was designed for alumni with children, but I knew my 19 five year olds would love it, too! ❤️💙🎅🏻

My school district is now fully remote & yesterday while I was in the middle of teaching my 5 year olds LIVE from home, my power went out & I got kicked off line. I admittedly panicked, grabbed my phone, & jumped back on my google meet. I logged back in & my kids were DYING (1/?)

They were so concerned something happened to me because I just disappeared. One mom that I know particularly well from having both of her sons told me she could hear the kids yelling my name and trying to figure out why I left them. I was gone for MAYBE 2 minutes total! (2/?)

But, I joined on my phone & kept teaching until my power kicked back on and I could get back on my laptop. What else was I supposed to do, right? I spoke with one student’s aunt today and she said she was talking with the mom that heard the commotion and said how impressed (3/?)

They were that I was teaching 18 five year olds on a cell phone. She thanked me profusely for all I’ve done this year for the kids and told me about a FB post the other mom wrote about me. I went to investigate and this is what I found ❤️ (4/5)

This year has been HARD. The hardest of my career by far and I struggle daily. I wonder if I’m doing the best things for my kids. In question myself and my abilities. Then, I get great emails & FB posts I feel like I’m making a difference. That is by far the best feeling ever.

When it’s Grinch Day in kindergarten, you obviously have to do a directed drawing of The Grinch. These kiddos did an awesome job!

For the last day of school before Christmas break, we did a virtual scavenger hunt. The last clue was find something you would NOT want as a Christmas gift. I was DYING at what my kids chose-lysol, Apple, pencil, TP, Clorox, ketchup, vegetables, a broom, a plant, & sand. 😂🎅🏻🎄

I had the distinct pleasure of going to School of Education with Samantha Utley and then teaching with her years later. She is an incredible person, friend, and educator. So very proud of her and excited for her! ❤️
