At his first news conference in weeks, Doug Ford says, for safety reasons, he will allow only 1 reporter in the room at a time to ask a question. This must be why he never visits an Ontario classroom.

Unfair and sexist. That’s the Doug Ford government.

In New York, the Governor has distributed 2,000,000 rapid antigen tests to New York City schools in preparation for January 3rd. In Ontario, Minister Lecce has distributed five dozen Italian pastries to various high-end King City retirement homes.

And just like that… Schools, child care centres and camps go from “high risk” to no risk. (These two documents are less than two weeks apart)

Imagine Doug Ford lowering the indoor gathering from 10 people to 5, (implicitly admitting that gathering indoors is unsafe), yet sending our kids back to classes of 25+ without improving ventilation or PPE/removing access to testing and contact tracing/no vaxx mandate. #onted

As an English teacher, I always tell my students that words have power because of their connotation. When Doug Ford says “teacher absenteeism” it’s offensive. If a teacher has COVID and/or is told to isolate, it is a good reason to not be in a classroom with 30+ students.

What Doug Ford thought about retired teachers working as OTs in 2019.

Is it considered absenteeism when the premier of Ontario misses 48 of 86 question periods in a year? Because that was Doug Ford’s attendance record in 2021.

EQAO should be canceled for 2022 and the resources available redirected to support student mental health.
