Nervous and cautiously excited about the long awaited childcare deal to be announced this morning 🤞Child care & early learning is a critical part of a comprehensive educational approach to care in our communities, alongside public education. This investment is long past due.

A teacher being removed from an elementary classroom for wearing a hijab should make *every single* Canadian angry, not just Muslim Canadians.

Tonight's announcement comes as a surprise to #EPSB. School divisions were not consulted on this shift. If we were, #EPSB would have shared the desire to move slowly, to listen to parents, to listen to boards.

An important thread. Yesterday changed public education in Alberta immeasurably. 🧵 thanks Support Our Students for always explaining better than I can.

I believe children need different types of education, different pedagogical approaches, extra supports for their exceptional needs. And I KNOW we can offer that in a properly resourced public education system. Charters are not the answer.

It’s not the kids I’m worried about. It’s the teachers who hold them. The more time I spend with teachers, the more I am convinced that I’ve never seen so many of them this tired, this unseen, or this concerned about our kids. Our teachers are hurting.
