But we also gotta remember that live action Ozai isn't the same character as cartoon Ozai, who was more or less a one dimensional bad guy. I honestly prefer some of the changes they made to Fire Nation characters. Bumi and Katara, on the other hand...

I think Zuko and Iroh were undoubtedly the best-translated (and expanded upon) characters from the original show to live action

These were just literal guards. Team Korra was up against armies of chi blockers, demons/dark spirits, master assassins, and a giant fucking gundam lets use our heads here come on now

Maybe future content will shed light on his military career, but until then, the man is innocent until proven guilty (“Fighting in a war” itself is not a war crime)

Trying to inject modern laws into a fantasy universe is kinda silly because some of the silly antics your heroes engage in are actual war crimes

The whole technology criticism never made sense to me because if you actually watch ATLA throughout all three seasons you see their technology go from steam powered boats to tanks capable of grappling and climbing and large vehicles capable of breaking down massive stone walls

By the time ATLA starts, the Fire Nation had already gone through an Industrial Revolution a century before. If anything, progress in the Avatar world was slower than our world’s.

This is the kind of vapid, meaningless criticism you get when people try to treat writing like math. Storytelling is not a series of logical equations to be solved.
