🚨Great news! The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act! The AAFP has continuously advocated to simplify administrative demands for physicians.

"Primary care is the only component of US healthcare system where more supply equates with better outcomes, at a more affordable cost. Employers play an important role in ensuring we invest more & differently in primary care." - AAFP's Karen Johnson/Karen Johnson #NatAllForum

1/ today, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) adopted a set of guiding principles for value-based payments for primary care I wasn't asked to review, but I believe that payers, purchasers, and policymakers should adopt this list as their own- or explain why not:

A strong public health workforce is crucial to sustain healthy, resilient communities and respond to future disease threats. Strengthening public health systems means investing in STAFF, not just stuff. bit.ly/40ceXBH

@EGolberstein Game on: Lots of interesting things when monkeying w 20 percent of economy. Consider the seven states following MA trying to get their hands around affordability and commercial prices. How about 1115 waivers in OR and MA? NC and its big BH initiative? 17 states doing PC spend?

CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure announced at Energy & Commerce hearing today the agency will no longer issue warnings to hospitals not making "good faith" effort to comply with price transparency rules. They'll move straight to the "corrective action" phase.

I am so saddened and angry about what took place in Kansas City today. A day of celebration and joy that evolved into a tragedy because of gun violence - an all too common experience in the US. My thoughts are with those individuals and families impacted by this horrific act.

I have scrolled through the "experts" telling us why primary care is so hard and how to fix it. The "fix" starts with greater investment (real money, not incentives) and then with getting rid of all the administrative trash that clutters the days of primary care physicians.
