DouglasTodd Bill McCreery City of Vancouver David Carrigg The City of Vancouver has intentionally maintained practices that do not accurately represent the will of its residents despite attempts to apply more legitimate methods for recording public input.

SEAN ORR The problem is, every civic party (sadly including Greens and COPE) other than TEAM supports giving developers whatever they ask for, and continuing impunity for incompetent senior staff who do not protect the public interest.

Public Hearing April 14 for Hotel-Barge at Canada Place (first and only item on agenda) #vanpoli Impacts on Vancouver Convention Centre ($883 million price tag) and on public views from waterfront boardwalk cityhallwatch.wordpress.com/2026/03/30/wat…

6 storey tall hotel barge permanently moored at Canada Place is awful precedent of waterfront foreshore commercialization, blocking views & terrible policy for further waterfront incursions of views & access for Vancouver public space. Tacky Tourist Town turn instead of hotel dev?

Happy 140th Birthday, Vancouver! The City of Vancouver was officially incorporated on April 6, 1886. It was incorporated under the Vancouver Incorporation Act, 1886 shortly after the Canadian Pacific Railway announced its terminus would be located there.

"#Vancouver has increased its event permit fees ... some by as much as 900%. For a medium complexity event, this could mean an increase from $250 up to $2,500." Don't ABC Vancouver & Mayor Ken Sim. The ABC gang is starving local events to pay for FIFA! vancouver.citynews.ca/2026/04/07/inc…

Will Council giveaway our shared public waterfront for a large (permanent) 250-room floating hotel? No community amenity contribution, no occupancy permit, and enviro concerns. Public hearing is Tuesday, April 14. Urge Council to reject this: shorturl.at/d2KXz #vanpoli

OneCity & Green Councillors Lucy Maloney & Pete Fry joined ABC to approve blocking this important public view to privatize it for corporate profit (increased by not paying DCLs &CACs) Remember for the election — seems only COPE & TEAM will not give developers whatever they want.

Ensuring public access over private property is extremely difficult to interpret and enforce. I have lots of examples. The current Vancouver Council, this mayor privatized a major waterfront view and commercialized waterfront use of city property. There’s no public benefit here.

Ken Sim says “back to basics.” This isn’t it. Billions on a stadium while families deal with rising costs and strained services. Watch why this is a swing and a miss.

From the CBC article: “City staff… said they're streamlining [rezoning] applications in hopes of getting them reviewed before council breaks for the summer.” i.e. before the election possibly brings in a new Council that is less inclined to give developers whatever they ask for.

Vancouver people. Why exactly do we need to spend seven billion dollars extra on a subway to ubc to shave just five minutes off the trip compared with surface tram? Five minutes
