This weekend Dillon Vogt and I in association with WDAY TV News and NDAWN assisted multiple Scouts Troops in earning their Weather Merit Badge! They learned the basics of weather, along with some real life career examples! Thanks to North Dakota State University for hosting!

The second winter weather instrument is our 𝘀𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿, providing automatic snow depth measurements (so the NDAWN staff doesn't freeze measuring snow) ❄️ Read more below! #WinterWx

The last winter instrument is our trusty 𝘀𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲! Snow stakes are marked every inch up to 40" to measure the snow. To maintain accuracy because of snow drifting & variation, we use three at most stations that have a camera to obtain an average snow depth 📷 #WinterWx

The Banks NDAWN was hit by a poorly aimed shotgun, with the solar panel taking the most damage. A first for NDAWN, but sadly I figured it would happen eventually. 🙄 #mesonetproblems
