Paper: Lake food web structure in Teici Nature reserve, Latvia: fish presence shapes functioning of pristine bog lake food webs About: Food web +/- fish mapped with Ecopath Who: Zagars, Christoffersen & Cremona Read: doi.org/10.1007/s10750… UCPH Section for Freshwater Biology

Spring in progress at Arctic Station Disko? The small & shallow lake next to the station started to melt in late April. This is at least 3-4 weeks ahead of the usual time. New ice and a bit of snow stopped it for while but the oxygen at the bottom has for sure been renewed.

White-ice rafting on a boat trip with iceberg towards #Qeqertarsuaq to take part in the visit of the Royal family at Arctic Station Disko.

It´s not often you get the chance to speak in front of the Royal family and a crowd of media people about a University of Copenhagen Research facility in Greenland; Arctic Station Disko. Even more seldom to entertain a young price & princess about Arctic biology. Photo: K. Thorsøe Biologisk Institut UCPH Section for Freshwater Biology

Arctic summer - here you come! Sun shines (sometimes!), flowers emerge, mosquitoes hatch from any waterbody and fieldwork is a joyful habit. #Qeqertarsuaq Arctic Station Disko UCPH Section for Freshwater Biology Biologisk Institut

Measuring lake and pond gas emission is part of a new PhD-student project. Ida F. Ross is right now working in Abisko 🇸🇪. Her goal is to integrate a lake biogeochemistry model with the dynamic ecosystem model LPJ-GUESS. Supervised by Jing Tang and myself. UCPH Section for Freshwater Biology Biologisk Institut

Teaching a freshwater field course gets a higher meaning, when the students can take a refreshing evening plunge into one of the finest lakes in 🇩🇰 and compare the water🌱plant species richness with a more turbid lake (without swimming!). UCPH Section for Freshwater Biology Biologisk Institut

Yesterday, Ida and her assistant finished the #GHG and #VOCs sampling program in #Abisko using floating chambers. The the last two sites: a rain & river feed lake and a thermokarst pond. Now she is very exited to get the data analysed at Biologisk Institut VOLT - Center for Volatile Interactions UCPH Section for Freshwater Biology

What happened to the Arctic summer at 81 degree in North Greenland! This was a ❄️storm a few days ago at villumresearchstation.dk. I hope the white stuff is soon gone, to allow hiking to some remote lakes to pick up dataloggers, that have been deployed for some years. UCPH Section for Freshwater Biology

It´s a special feeling to reconnect with #datalogger strings submitted in a remote lakes at 81oN in 2019 and 2021, respectively. Record O2, temp, light & cond. Even more exiting, that all had worked well and some were still logging. This will be a great data set. UCPH Section for Freshwater Biology

Happy to assist with an #INTERACT remote access project TUNDRAsalad at #Villum_Research_Station. We surveyed two High Arctic desert habitats for herbivore droppings and harvested plant biomass. This spot at 81oN may be their northernmost sampling location. Herbivory Network isabel c barrio

Time to leave #Villum_Research_Station at 81oN! Summer is about to end and in not too long time, snow scooters and belt wagons will work better than🚲 at this High Arctic spot. Eager to come back next year to pull up my lake datalogger stations. UCPH Section for Freshwater Biology Biologisk Institut

The autumn blossomed in red-brown-yellow colors during the last sampling event this summer season for the Arctic Station Disko lake monitoring program. It´s the 14th sampling season. UCPH Section for Freshwater Biology Greenland Ecosystem Monitoring

New post doc position on implications of cyanobacteria for insects is open at UCPH Section for Freshwater Biology.
