It’s not the number of cuts that makes this awkward (Mad Max: Fury Road has very short ASL and is an editing triumph) it’s the rhythm, broken momentum and bad eye-trace - you shouldn’t have it feel like a character is stuttering backwards like this (especially with Netflix money)

Oh so you won’t be ripping wedding rings off fingers like mobster loan sharks? Just family heirlooms and the like? How thoughtful of Reform-cosplay @Labour

Cruel. Callous. Cowardly. The public are seeing this Labour government for exactly who they are. We all have a responsibility to make them pay at the ballot box. Reject the hate. Reject them. This is not who we are. Let's make hope normal again. Join.greenparty.org.uk

My latest edit, the feature doc Douglas Gordon by Douglas Gordon, will have its world premiere in February at #Berlinale Panorama. It’s a radical portrait of a true one-of-a-kind mind, and I’m excited for people to see it.

More proof that DVD commentaries are one of the greatest losses of the streaming era. First service to bring them back gets my money.

Opposition to genocide, torture and displacement is absolutely the most important “work of people”, and it shouldn’t be a hard thing to say

“As a viewer, you are immersed in the most intimate sphere of this artist's life, in his nightmares and fears. It deals with aging, death, perception, and experiences at the limits of human experience.” #Berlinale

Terribly sad about Tom Noonan passing. In casting Manhunter I auditioned about 10-15 actors in New York when Tom walked in the door and said, “I don’t want to talk. I just want to read.” He read and it was magical. We worked closely. I based Dollarhyde less on the novel’s

Two more screenings left at #Berlinale for our Scottish art-punk documentary Douglas Gordon by Douglas Gordon. Fire, bubbles, pain, joy, thumbing noses, kicking cameras, good tunes and the existential panic of staring into the ever-creeping void of death! Fun!

Haven’t seen a single “every film is political” post come up with surprising political interpretation or intention of seemingly non-political film, which would actually be smart counterpoint to Wim Wenders’ nonsense opinion. Posting your favourite political activist film ain’t it

From: Cannon Fodder (1995), dir. Katsuhiro Otomo, Studio 4°C This film was designed to flow without hard cuts -- the camera just goes and goes and goes

Incredibly kind words of great praise from Danish critic Tue Steen Müller about ‘Douglas Gordon by Douglas Gordon’ (screening for the last time tonight at #Berlinale2026): filmkommentaren.dk/finlay-pretsel…
