You can certainly get both. A car gives you flexibility to change jobs/cities, it mustn’t be over R5k incl. insurance. Rent a cottage instead of a luxury apartment. Keep the same car when the salary goes up, buy a property. Have kids later, their dad in it, bigger home/car. I did
