The last sultan of Zanzibar was coronated on 1 July 1963. Here's Jamshid bin Abdullah's installation, courtesy Reuters. He was to rule for barely 6 months. On 12 Jan. 1964 the sultanate of Zanzibar was overthrown in a popular revolution, led by the Ugandan laborer John Okello.
