Manitoba's April deluge means it won’t be long before growers start looking at changing out earlier maturing varieties, which could create some challenges with supply, says tgreaves in our latest story. Also feat. Todd Hyra & Kevin McCallum. hubs.li/Q0190fwB0
DL Lacross Forage Pea is a semi-leafless forage pea that performs well in mixed cropping situations or as a single crop. It has a smaller seed size and stands very well on irrigation and dryland.
Love touring winter canola fields today June 6th. Here is a nice commercial field of Pluex winter canola close to Wilbur, Washington. Dry land canola between 40-50 bushel/ac potential.
Thanks to Jim Davies from U of Idaho, and Brian/Claire from Rubisco Seeds for the tour of winter canola variety trials at Moscow, Idaho. Plots looking good so far. Seed pod weevil and diamondback moths at low levels. And a very large honey bee working hard.
Commercial field of Peaola = mix of winter peas and winter canola. Canola uses the early season nitrogen. Pea plants start setting health pink nodules later in the season due to reduce nitrogen available. Helps reduce nitrogen needs for next crop after canola.
Thanks to Brian and Claire from Rubisco Seeds for the tour of irrigated winter canola variety plots today in Odessa, Washington. Irrigation field around plots of Mercedes, looks like it will go close to 90-100 bu/ac if everything works out. 7 feet tall winter canola!
Winter peas and winter fababeans look very impressive in Lewiston, Idaho at this time of year. Time to add more pulses to the crop rotation in the PNW.
We're excited to welcome our new Regional Account Manager for SW Manitoba to the BrettYoung Team – Matt Dykun 🎉
If you see him around this summer, make sure to stop and say hi!
Very productive PROFABA meeting at NPZ breeding site 🇩🇪. Was great to see again (in person and online) to all our collaborators and I loved as well to visit #fababeans and #peas field trials.
Can you spot our little helper? 😍
