White Mountains, California—this is an uncommon Tiger Moth here in the state, Arachnis citra, found in pinyon pine—juniper forest at 7700 feet elevation. A species of the intermountain west, but not many records in California. Very eye-catching!

Can you top finding an 'extinct' moth in the trap?? ... well I guess finding an adult near it's food plant and apparent signs of munching might just do it - I think the Norfolk Snout is back (assuming it ever if went away?)

Watercress Farm, Nailsea 3rd September. I identified 7 male Hook-tips as 6 Oak & a Spiny. Other than wear, very little variation within the Oaks. Good opportunity for comparison to our local presumed Spiny Hook-tips. Photo session results attached. Gendets will be interesting. 😀
