Minister LaGrange said she was cutting the ATA out of the curriculum review process because ‘their focus was on teachers and my focus is on student learning and on improving student learning.’ This is one of the most disappointing things I’ve heard a Minister of Education say,

I got assigned my last practicum for my program. I’ll be at a rural school, teaching grades 7, 8, 9. Both excited and nervous to be working with the jr high age kiddos.

Got my official AB teacher certificate in the mail this week. Kinda feels surreal given the state of Education in the province right now.

Yesterday's press conference was alarming and concerning in its disregard and disrespect for the excellent job teachers do day in and day out. There is lots more to say on this. Right now, I am focused on the re-entry plan for schools and how government MUST improve it. /1

In AB's K-6 curriculum, a social studies knowledge outcomes for grade ones is that FN people came to NA 30k years ago. At age 7 (grade 2) children usually understand minute and hour but are fuzzy as to the meaning of "year." Did UCP consult with anyone who had ever met a child?

First year of teaching is DONE! What a ride it was. Moving to Fort McMurray, living and teaching there in a pandemic, teaching division one without previous experience. I learned so much from my students this year. I have accepted a Gr. 5 position in Ft. Mac for 21/22!
