🚨 TRIGGER WARNING police shooting Heartbreaking. Philadelphia man shot to death in front of his mother, who was clearly trying to diffuse the situation. Yes, he was holding a knife. No, the 12 gunshots were not justified.

Police in virtually every other wealthy nation never or almost never kill people armed with knives. US police routinely kill in these situations, not because there’s more risk to them but because they choose to kill and are protected legally to do so. No justification for this.

Watching all of this unfold in places like Philly, Detroit, and Atlanta, I just can't stop thinking about the decades, really the centuries, of pathology surrounding Black ppl and the vote. The way Black folks have been scapegoated & maligned, but continue to come through anyway.
