Day Two checking in at our Sta. Rita Hills vineyards... La Rinconada Vineyard! A new block for us this year featuring the famed Wente clone of Chardonnay. North-south rows allow adequate sunlight on both sides of the canopy.

Day Three in the Sta. Rita Hills... La Encantada Vineyard! Pinot Noir planted to the Swan Selection, one of Ken's favorites. Small berries and small clusters will mean intense flavor and complexity.

Day Four at the gorgeous Radian Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills! Pinot Noir clones 667 and 115. Canopies are healthy and clusters are small. Never tire of the wow factor here!

On top of the world on Day Five... Rita's Crown Vineyard at almost 1000 ft. in elevation! Three different Pinot Noir clones are planted here: 667, 777 and 828. This is usually the first of our vineyards to show color and we could see hints of veraison.

We did a "green drop" at Rita's Crown Vineyard, dropping fruit where the ripening is behind the rest of the cluster. This helps us maintain ripeness consistency on our picks.

Our latest staff field trip--The Ken Brown History Tour. What an amazing trip down memory lane! We started at Byron Winery, founded by Ken in 1984 and where he made wine until 2004. Huge thanks to winemaker and great friend Jonathan Nagy for the tour, tasting and memories!

Second stop on the Ken Brown History Tour: the original Byron Winery (now home to Kenneth Volk Vineyards since 2004)! Shoutout to good friend Ken Volk and his team for letting us tour around and reminisce, and for the tasting of his always eclectic and always fantastic wines.
