'Being against racism and sexism was good, but being in favour of sterilising children was taking things a bit far' is going to be one of the excuses of those who are complicit in this medical scandal, as though they're merely guilty of kindness overreach.

There were of course plenty of people who managed to be against racism and sexism while also being against sterilising children all along, despite having to listen to the 'kind people' tell them this meant they were 'far right'.

🧵 Raneem Oudeh called police FIVE TIMES the night she and her mum were murdered.

A harrowing and unacceptable story of police inaction that not only failed to save their lives, but lowered their risk level with every call as they hadn’t been attacked yet.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/d…

Redefining an oppressed class of people to include members of the oppressor class does not liberate or benefit those who are oppressed. Pretending men can be women too is the very definition of a luxury belief. The consequences aren’t felt by men or wealth-protected women.

Pretending we don’t possess the biological characteristics that lead to women’s oppression doesn’t resolve the oppression. It makes it impossible to analyse or challenge the basis on which women are oppressed. 1/3

We don’t address racism by pretending white people can be black, nor is ableism solved by giving able-bodied people wheelchairs, so why are women and girls supposed to applaud their male imitators, centre them in language and hand over rights their foremothers fought for? 3/X

I took Peter Boghossian to task over his previous comments about women and self defence (we should all be armed and using pepper spray as a way of fending off violent men, LOL). You can watch/listen here:

As wonderful as it is to see this in the Globe and Mail, it must be said that Canada doesn't need to do a careful years-long review of youth gender medicine. That's already been done, and the conclusion is clear: the evidence is remarkably weak and this experiment must end now.

justdad7 Robyn Urback I'm skeptical of the motives for covering this now. And how convenient to blame politicians and activists when the Globe refused to report on this topic and cover it with any degree of balance for years.

This opinion piece by Robyn Urback would have been excellent if it had appeared a month ago but it only mentions the groundbreaking final report of the Cass Review in one sentence near the end of the story. This is burying the lede with a vengeance.

Whenever I mention on here that five out of Canada's ten main pediatric gender clinics do not require a psychological assessment prior to starting blockers or hormones, a trans activist will show up to call me a liar. Because it's so mad, even trans activists don't believe it…
