"Isaacman said moving the shuttle orbiter from its current home at the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia would depend on whether it could be done safely and within budget" - NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman the answer to both is NO

Worth noting that former acting NASA administrator Secretary Sean Duffy also repeatedly refused to say "we're moving Discovery to Houston", probably because he and everyone else knows that carving up a historic space shuttle is a terrible idea

No "wheels stop" yet - NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman's comments about Discovery are encouraging; $85M isn't nearly enough to move a shuttle (per NASA & Smithsonian) and Discovery would be maimed in the process. But no official decision has been made and until then it is premature to celebrate.

We're going to keep fighting to minimize the relocation's funding, throw up every roadblock possible between Udvar-Hazy & Houston, and keep Discovery at the Smithsonian - thanks for the coverage The Washington Post! wapo.st/49hy3xI

Were it not for the tragic events of 23 years ago, it would likely be Columbia, and not Discovery, at National Air and Space Museum. We remember her crew on this February 1st, and forever. airandspace.si.edu/stories/editor…
