Simply relying on companies to change voluntarily and telling people to alter their behaviour in a food environment that is rigged against them is destined to fail. \end šŸ‘ @actiononsugar #RecipeForChange

This new analysis drives home the importance of policies designed to improve the nutritional quality of food and drink. In particular, the soft drinks industry levy (SDIL) in the UK has proven to be an effective lever to encourage food and drink manufacturers to reduce sugar.

We are delighted to see the revised National Planning Policy Framework has new wording in it stating that a purpose of the planning system will be to support healthy communities, with reducing obesity rates and tackling hot food takeaways near schools an explicit priority!

This is the inevitable, devastating, outcome of rising Islamophobia that's enabled to fester on social media, in mainstream media, and by our political class. Our thoughts are with the people of Southport, and British Muslims across the country. x.com/i/status/18185…

These riots started in Parliament. Rioters chant ā€œstop the boatsā€ and ā€œwe want our country backā€ - using language from politicians across the political spectrum. It’s not enough to call out violence, politicians need to stop normalising hate. In policy and practice.

Unlike packaged foods, reporting on health and nutrition in the OOH sector is scarce and inconsistent. Mandatory calorie labelling for large businesses came into force in 2022, but little more nutrition information is usually provided at point of choice [3/7] Dr Kawther H MSc RNutr PhD
