Nicolás Maduro is no victim. He is a brutal, bloodthirsty dictator. He has engineered an enormous refugee crisis and torn apart millions of Venezuelan families. His trail of theft, death, and corruption is unmatched in modern Latin American history. Viva Venezuela libre.

Maduro is a dictator who stayed in power by force after losing an election. No one who believes in democracy should mourn his fall. Trump's pretexts and potential geopolitical deals especially w Russia deserve scrutiny, but the Venezuelan people deserve a chance at freedom.

At least it should now be clear that Venezuela's democratic opposition played no role in this weekend's events. The ones doing the bidding of the Americans are on the other side.
