SYSTEMIC ABUSE PLAGUING THE NWSL MUST NOT BE IGNORED

Mana and Shin, I stand beside you and can’t tell you enough how brave and selfless you both are in shedding light on unimaginable trauma in order to protect others. National Women’s Soccer League protect your players and listen to their voices when they tell you there’s a serious problem.

When you have an opportunity to own your contributions to a complete failure of protecting your players, and the entire league, you choose to stand behind “player privacy”. Tell me something, was the FO thinking about the players when you tweeted this back in 2017?

A prime example of systemic abuse within leagues, organizations, and women’s football as a whole in🧵below. A reminder to abusers/enablers: prestige and power will never suppress the truth. Thank you to the brave women who came forward. You’re making a safer space for all.

When you have someone in a position of power who has covered up the abuse of your teammates and you thank him for what he’s done for women’s soccer, it’s extremely disappointing. We ask people to support women’s soccer yet we can’t even support our own. Do better.
